Model MaxBotix MaxSonar-EZ1

MaxBotix LV-MaxSonar high performance ultrasonic rangefinders are the easiest to use ultrasonic rangefinders available. The LV-MaxSonar sensor line offers very short to long-range detection and ranging, in an incredibly small package with ultra low power consumption.

Features:

  • 2.5V to 5.5V Operation:  Provides great performance through the voltage range so operation at either 3.3V or 5V,  means that users of low voltage microcontrolers do not have to provide an extra supply for the sensor.
  • Stable Range Readings:  The stability of the LV-MaxSonar ®  sensor lineup range readings puts the LV-MaxSonar ® products in a class by themselves!  Compare for yourself, or look at our test results.
  • No Dead Zone: The LV-MaxSonar ® sensor line does not have a dead zone. Other ultrasonic range finders (especially single sensor range finders) have dead zones, some longer than 6-inches. Dead zones are problematic for many applications (such as robot mini sumo and robot wall following situations).
Custom Sensor Beam Widths: Users can choose the detection pattern that matches the application.  Five products are listed on our web page, but we also sell custom programmed beam widths.
  • Simple Calibration: The LV-MaxSonar ® product line automatically calibrates itself, after power up, before taking the first reading. (In normal indoor environments, no other calibration is required.)
  • SMart Amplitude Range Thresholding: The LV-MaxSonar ® sensor line is easier to use because small objects (clutter) outside of the central beam are ignored. The LV-MaxSonar ® sensor line measures the returning range reading and makes SMART T detection decisions. This SMART T signal processing provides stable and accurate range readings.  In addition, SMART T signal processing controls the beam width and provides long range (over 6-meters) ranging within the central beam area, and yet rejects objects outside of this central area.
  • Easy User Interface: The LV-MaxSonar ® -EZ1 T user interface was designed to be very easy and intuitive to use. The interface output formats included are pulse width output, analog voltage output, and asynchronous serial digital output. All interfaces work without user code or complicated setup strings.

Non-Invasive Current Sensor

product image

Product Description:

This non-invasive current sensor (also known as a "split core current transformer") can be clamped around the supply line of an electrical load to tell you how much current is passing through it. It does this by acting as an inductor and responding to the magnetic field around a current-carrying conductor. By reading the amount of current being produced by the coil, you can calculate how much current is passing through the conductor.

This particular current sensor will measure a load up to 30 Amps which makes it great for building your own energy monitor to keep your power usage down, or even building an over-current protection device for an AC load. This sensor does not have a load resistor built in, so in most cases it will be necessary to place a resistor across the output to convert the coil's induced current to a very small measurable voltage.

Non-Invasive Current Sensor - $8.99

2.2" Flex Sensor

product image

Product Description:

A simple flex sensor 2.2" in length. As the sensor is flexed, the resistance across the sensor increases. Patented technology by Spectra Symbol.

The resistance of the flex sensor changes when the metal pads are on the outside of the bend (text on inside of bend).

Connector is 0.1" spaced and bread board friendly.  Check datasheet for full specifications.

Note: Please refrain from flexing or straining this sensor at the base. The usable range of the sensor can be flexed without a problem, but care should be taken to minimize flexing outside of the usable range. For best results, securely mount the base and bottom portion and only allow the actual flex sensor to flex.

2.2" Flex Sensor - $6.99

Force Sensor

product image

Product Description:

This is a small force sensitive resistor. It has a 0.16" (4 mm) diameter active sensing area. This FSR from Interlink Electronics will vary its resistance depending on how much pressure is being applied to the sensing area. The harder the force, the lower the resistance. When no pressure is being applied to the FSR, its resistance will be larger than 1MΩ, with full pressure applied the resistance will be 2.5kΩ.

Two pins extend from the bottom of the sensor with 0.1" pitch making it bread board friendly.

These sensors are simple to set up and great for sensing pressure, but they aren't incredibly accurate. Use them to sense if it's being squeezed, but you may not want to use it as a scale.

Dimensions:

  • Overall length: 1.75"
  • Overall width:  0.28"
  • Sensing area:  0.3"

Features:

  • Actuation Force as low as 2 grams
  • Wide force sensitivity range 0.1N - 10N

Force Sensor - $6.99
